Thanksgiving

Trip to Southern Cal.

November 20 - 27, 2010

It was one of those years when Mar and I din't have any solid plans for Thanksgiving - so we made some.  Michael needed some of his things brought down to Hemet and Andrea just needed a visit, so we decided to go down south to California.

November 20 was a travel day.  It was the day we wanted to get across the Continental Divide on I70, and it was a beautiful day for it.  Temperatures good time all the way and really enjoyed the time together and the scenery.  We stopped in Loma, just before entering Utah:
We saw a small farm that had llamas - that would make them the Loma Llamas
Loma had streets named by letters - "L", "M" - and one we saw called "M 7/10"
From there we drove into the area of Southern Utah, an area I had never been in before.  It is the canyon area and I thought it was just georgeous and breathtaking.  We got to I15 about 7:00 and there it started to snow, but it was a warm snow and didn't pack the roads.  Still we were tired and decided to spend the night in Cedar City.

November 21 we continued on South through the rest of Utah, a little corner of Arizona with the beautiful Virgin River Canyon, across the southern tip of Nevada without stopping in Las Vegas, and then on into California.  And there is started to snow again, but not for long.  It really was a good travel day.  We got to Andrea's in San Clemente at about 3:00.  This was a big day for Ben and Andrea and Michael because they had to speak in Sacrament Meeting.  Then in the evening Ben had to deal with one of the Marines in his command who died in a motorcycle accident.

November 22 was a relax day for us - some shopping and helping Andrea.  Ben and the boys did a service project passing out over 1200 turkeys and dinner fixings for Marine families.  Jasen came home eaver.with a pretty good f

November 23 we went over to Hemet to see Michael and Taylor and take them the things we totted down from Colorado.  We also took them out to dinner.

November 24 was another relax day.

November 25 - Thanksgiving - we stated with the PTA Turkey trot.  We had fun running that, even though it was windy and a little bit cold.  Then there was the Turkey Bowl - flag football.  I played and didn't hurt myself.  Michael and Taylor came and we had a nice dinner and relaxed like you are supposed to do on Thanksgiving.

November 26 - We had to leave.  We drove all the way to Ogden and had dinner with Mom and Melanie, then went on to Logan.

November 27 - We packed up and drove back to Longmont - with Mar's Mom with us.  We actually left a day early because there was a storm coming.

So there it is - a nice trip and we really enjoyed ourselves.  All in all, a little over 2500 miles.
