Reading List

Angela's Ashes by James McCourt

December 17, 2010

Why?  Because it was just hanging around the house.  I do not know where it came from or how it
got there.  But it does say "Winner of the Pulitzer Prize" on the cover - so maybe.

Maybe not.  It took a long time for me to get through this book.  It is a memoir of a child who grew up in depression Ireland.  There is an innocence in the beginning, and a little bit of a light heartedness.  But as time goes on, the innocence and light heartedness can't mask the real desperation of his situation.  I felt like it was in the same vein as A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, but not as well written.

Nope, I don't recommend it.
